Sewing Machine Operator (Part-Time) - BTI Uniforms

As part of our strategy for growth, we are currently seeking to recruit a  Part-time  Sewing Machine Operator for our BTI Uniforms Division.

BTI Uniforms is the leader in the provision of uniforms and workwear in Malta, catering for a broad range of corporate entities including catering, hospitality, schools, government entities, hospitals, and various other businesses. 

We provide a vast selection of office and work wear which can be literally, tailormade and customised to our client’s requirements in our manufacturing facility which has been providing made-to-measure tailoring services for the past four decades through our steadfast commitment to finest quality, design and good taste.

THE POSITION

The Sewing Machine Operator will play a crucial role in the production process at BTI Uniforms, supporting the development, quality assessment, and oversight of various production stages. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position involves monitoring sewing, cutting, and finishing processes to ensure all garments meet design specifications and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development and Quality Assessment:

  • Assist in the development and production of garments, ensuring all items align with design specifications.
  • Perform quality assessments on materials and finished garments, evaluating strength, durability, colorfastness, and resistance to wear.

Overseeing Sewing, Cutting, and Finishing Processes:

  • Monitor and manage the sewing, cutting, and finishing stages of garment production.
  • Ensure all processes are executed accurately and efficiently to meet production schedules.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct quality checks on garments throughout the production process.
  • Inspect final products to confirm they meet company standards and specifications.

Pre-Production Garment Sizing:

  • Assist in the sizing and preparation of pre-production garments to ensure they meet design and quality requirements.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties as directed by management to support the production process.
  • Assist in various tasks as needed within the production team.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in garment manufacturing or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Ability to operate and maintain garment production machinery.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting and moving materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Based in a manufacturing facility, with extended periods of standing required.
    • Ability to work in conditions that may include exposure to chemicals and dyes.
