Maintenance Person - VFGROUP

As part of our strategy to strengthen our operations, we seek to recruit a highly capable and motivated
Maintenance Person, to oversee the maintenance operations across our group of companies operating in retail, manufacturing, media, and property sectors.


The selected candidate will be responsible for maintenance-related tasks, responsible for swiftly identifying and solving problems to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of facilities, equipment, and systems. They will also be responsible to:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance and preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and renovation activities for various properties, including offices, manufacturing plants, retail stores, and media facilities.
  • Coordinate with property management teams to ensure a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for employees, clients, and visitors.
  • Manage maintenance and repair schedules for machinery and equipment in manufacturing plants and other relevant areas.
  • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain critical utilities such as electricity, water, HVAC, and other infrastructure systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices where applicable.
  • Swiftly identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to devise effective solutions.
  • Makes informed decisions and implements corrective actions to address problems and prevent their recurrence.
  • Develops and manages maintenance budgets for each sector, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Sources and evaluate external contractors when necessary, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with service agreements.
  • Implements and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all facilities, following local regulations and best practices.
  • Conducts regular safety audits and risk assessments, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Responsible to control maintenance costs and obtain quotations for any works required


The ideal candidate must have:

  • At least 3 years experience in a similar position
  • A technical qualification or certification in Building Services, Electrical License, Maintenance
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, plastering, painting, and troubleshooting
  • An understanding of Health and Safety equipment and Security Systems requirements in Commercial and Office buildings
  • A valid driving license and the ability to drive a company van
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Maltese and English
  • Availability to be on call and work on a flexible schedule which may include evenings or weekends when and as required.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • A mature and reliable approach to work
